Prayer Shawl Knitting
About this EventProject Description Volunteers will get to knit prayer shawls to be given to those who need uplifted. There is an old saying; “Our hands are God’s hands.” Through the Prayer Shawl Ministry we are those hands. Prayer shawls are given for many reasons: illness, grief, healing, celebrations, friendship and life changes. Volunteer Qualifications All knitters ages 8 and up are welcome! Children under 12 must have adult supervision. Need a refresher or a quick lesson? Help will be provided. Volunteer Needs Size 13 knitting needles and 3 skeins of yarn that are 6 oz. and 185 yards each. Homespun and Red Heart are two popular brands of yarn. Please check to see if the yarn has dye lots so the yarn matches. If you are going to crochet you will need a size M crochet hook and 4 skeins of yarn. If you are new to knitting and don’t want to invest in yarn yet, we will have yarn available to practice with.
