The Forgotten Initiative
Project Lead:Debbie Jankowski and Amy Anderson
Project Description: On Saturday May 5th from 1 – 4 pm, join our team as we partner with The Forgotten Initiative to meet the practical needs of the foster care community in Will County. Children often come into foster care with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Journey Bags are duffel bags filled with personal and comfort items for children to call their own when they are abruptly taken out of their homes. The goal of Journey Bags is to know they are loved, prayed for and remembered. Our team will assemble 150+ Journey Bags during the BIG SERVE Change the World to be distributed to CASA OF WILL COUNTY , Lutheran Child and Family Services of ILL and One Hope United.
Project Location: Murphy Junior High School 26923 Grande Park Blvd., Plainfield, IL 60585.
Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers will be placed on teams of 2-5. All children under 12 must serve with a parent or adult.
Project Supplies Needed on Day Of Event: Team volunteers should bring 1 pair of scissors and 1 piece of pattern fleece 2 yards in length that will be used to make blankets for the Journey Bags.
