Prayer Shawl Knitting

Project Description: On May 6th from 1-4pm, opportunity to knit. There is an old saying; “Our hands are God’s hands.” Through the Prayer Shawl Ministry we are those hands. Prayer shawls are given for many reasons: illness, grief, healing, celebrations, friendship and life changes. All knitters welcome! Need a refresher or a quick lesson on how to knit? Help will be on hand. We also have crochet instructions. You may stay the whole time or as long as you can.
Project Location: Plainfield United Methodist Church, 15114 S. Illinois St, Plainfield, IL 60544
Volunteer Requirements: Age restrictions is 8 years and older, all children under 12 must serve with a parent or adult.
Project Supplies: Size 13 knitting needles and 3 skeins of yarn that are 6 oz. and 185 yards each. Homespun and Red Heart are two popular brands of yarn. Please check to see if the yarn has dye lots so the yarn matches. If you are going to crochet you will need a size M crochet hook and 4 skeins of yarn. If you are new to knitting and don’t want to invest in yarn yet, we will have yarn available to practice with.
